Time For A Change
It's been a while since I last sat down and wrote an update on Rhyne and Jake. Motherhood is moving along just wonderfully, the kids are great, and we finally received some winter weather! Yes, the first snow we have seen since our December 2005 trip to Russia.

I learned this week that our daycare is increasing their fees by $40 a week! That is just highway robbery if you ask me. Yes, they are wonderful and provide a nutritious lunch and has just started serving breakfast, and use the ABECKA learning program. Still, it seems that a change is needed. I spent most of the calling around to find another church day school that uses the same ABECKA program and that would be within my budget. Thank goodness my sister in law found one that is closer to our home, and still on the way to our work. They do use the ABECKA program, and will be $75 less per week than what our current place's fees are going up to.

One downside is that I have to provide lunch. For $75 a week, I don't think that is going to be a problem. The other downside is that the current school is only a 1.5 miles from my Mom. She has been a big help with helping me pick the kids up a few days a week and helping me take them to doctor and dentist appointments. Since the new school does not offer Kinderdance that Rhyne is currently taking, we are not going to move them until June, after her dance recital.

The upside is that hubby just works a few miles up the road from the new school. This will be a big plus when I need help dropping them off in the morning or picking them up. Now he will feel more involved in their school and get to talk to their teachers more. Also, they will be going to school with children that they will be going to elementary school with in a few years. I always hated going to a new school and not knowing anyone.

I'm sure that we will have a transition time for the children to adapt, but I think they will enjoy
getting home 30 - 45 minutes earlier everyday, and we will all enjoy having more family time in the evenings.
PS - Yes, those are pink mittens on Jake! I mistakenly gave away his mittens to families that were traveling to Russia! Since we rarely get snow or need them here in the South, I didn't realize that he did not have any until the day it snowed and I went to look for them! He will have a pair by next Winter!!

I love that bottom pic! I'm glad you've found a better daycare alternative. I concur--$75/week is way too much to pay for lunch!
